I took over POW Film Fest in 2007 with the goal to elevate and give visibility to women and non-binary directors in the film industry. Over the past 15 years we have hosted 14 film festivals, many special screenings (over 1000 films!), facilitated multiple workshops and panels and launched a youth media program, POWGirls, which has generated 23 films in the past seven years. These projects are my heart.

POWFILM FEST

DSC_0896.JPG

Power of Women Film Festival (POW Film Fest) is Portland’s premiere film festival showcasing the work of women and non-binary directors. Now in its 15th year, the festival features some of today’s top directors, while honoring the true pioneers and recognizing the next generation of leading filmmakers. POW was created, in part, to celebrate women in their quest to thrive and grow in the film industry.

POWGIRLS MEDIA EDUCATION PROGRAM

POWGirls offers workshops in video production, cinematography, audio recording, set lighting, digital editing and media literacy for girls and non-binary youth ages 15-19. Over the past seven years we have hosted fourteen workshops and the POWGirls have created 23 films! Check out their work here:
